Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Review: Everything that you’ve missed

4/18/2020

Reaper of Souls is the first expansion for Diablo 3 video game. Malthael, the death angel, is slaughtering humankind to grow his undead armies and there are not many chances to confront him. Download Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls for PC, PS 3, PS 4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to become a hero of Sanctuary and restore the long-awaited balance.

Graphics — 4.5/5

The obvious advantage is that you don’t need a cutting-edge PC to make Diablo III RoS look perfect. The game is well optimized and runs smoothly on mid-range PC or any console. The game greets players with a dark atmosphere, which reminds it’s a 10-year-old predecessor. The attention to details can be observed from the very first minutes as well as the pleasant lighting and intriguing style of art. RoS perfectly transmits its hellish setting, which is so familiar for Diablo Universe fans.

Gameplay — 4.5/5

Gameplay is quite satisfying. Anyone can start with a simple missile or a useless sword and after a couple of hours be shooting death rays at rivals or scattering monsters with a blow of hammer just like Thor. For massacring mobs in large streaks, the game gives more XP as well as recharge perks, which makes one’s playstyle even more aggressive. It will probably take a few days before the player will realize that he is basically doing the same things with different spells and weapons. However, Diablo always makes even the most monotonous actions feel so absorbing that they start to feel the most important thing that has to be done.

And what’s good to do alone is always better to share with someone. Matchmaking is great, so it’s always possible to share the experience with friends or random strangers. If that’s not the choice, then up to 4 people can play simultaneously using one console. There's no doubt that Reaper of Souls made Diablo III much more entertaining and challenging.

Controls — 5/5

To make this Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Review as objective as possible it’s necessary to test the game with all types of controllers. It was found that the game is equally enjoyable with keyboard and gamepad, although gamepad users might need some time to get used to the fact that they will find themselves constantly moving. Controls in Diablo III RoS are simple, and almost all possible actions can be performed by pressing a couple of keys. Remembering these combinations is easy even for the new players, unfamiliar with Diablo series.

Replay Value — 4/5

In comparison with Diablo III, which had relatively poor replay value, Reaper of Souls aims to change the rules by introducing so awaited “sandbox feel”. It’s being achieved by the completion of V act, after which the Adventure Mode is being available. Here you can explore every possible area of the game and collect bounties. The other option is to go on a journey to Nephalem Rifts. These are the fully random dungeons with a lot of challenges and the final boss.

The Bottom Line

Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls is a great game, that is easy to play and enjoy. At least 30 hours of content assure that you won’t get bored. Downloading Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls would be a great idea if you want to refresh the good old memories about classic Diablo or if your friends are picking it up. If you haven’t played this game before, then most likely you should try it now.
